We are currently looking for a Junior Geotechnical Technician - CPT Operator to join our team based in Hornby, Christchurch.
This position would suit either a Graduate, Undergraduate Earth Scientist, Geologist, Civil Engineer or Hydrologist looking to make the move into the geotechnical industry.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to see the practical side of geotechnical investigation, and an opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the business (including water/geotech,drilling, CPT etc).
You'll be responsible for daily operation of cone penetration testing rig, assisting with other drilling tasks as required, basic mechanical checks of equipment and driving.
You will also need to demonstrate:- A moderate to high level of physical fitness
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Availability to work away from home (Christchurch) for reasonable periods of time
- Hold a Class 1 Full driver's licence
- Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Appetite for learning and applying new skills
- Competent with technology
This is a permanent, full time position with hours between 7:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work. Start date for this position will be January 2025. A competitive hourly wage will be negotiated based on skills and experience brought to the role.
